Willo Balfrey

Willo Balfrey is a representational artist who specializes in landscapes captured in both oils and pastels. Working more than 18 years as a professional artist, Balfrey spent 16 years studying with Richard McKinley, Master Pastelist. Further studies in oils and pastels were with Roger Dale Brown, Dan Young, Terry Ludwig, Maggie Price, Roberta Remy, Albert Handell, and Daniel Green. She has taught workshops, presented demos, and judged shows in state and national venues. Having grown up in Durango, Colorado, Balfrey was surrounded by the Rocky Mountains, meadows, rimrocks, trees and streams, dressed in the beautiful colors of the four seasons.

“Now living in Weed, California, the beauty still surrounds me with the many changing faces of the areas of Northern California, and parts of Oregon, Idaho and Montana. I hope to bring the viewer into my work by painting the dramatic sense of quiet solitude that I find in nature.”

Balfrey is a signature member of the Pastel Society of America, Sierra Pastel Society, the Oregon Pastel Society and NW Pastel Society. She is a Master Pastelist status with the International Pastel Societies and a Disinguished Pastelist with the Pastel Society of the West Coast. She was recently featured in a new publication, “100 Ways to Paint Seascapes, Rivers & Lakes Vol I”
