"Seven Shades of Gray" 24 x 36 Acrylic by JM Brodrick
"August Light" 24 x 36 Mixed Media by Lane Hall
"August Sunflowers" 36 x 36 Oil by Laurel Buchanan
JM Brodrick was tutored by her grandmother, a professional artist from Helsinki, Finland. She received her first scholarship when she was 13 years old. JM's technique involves using layers of colors in an abstract manor, increasing the detail to a realistic subject. Her wide range of subjects takes her from wildlife to equestrian to figurative to landscapes and cityscapes.
Lane Hall, started his career in watercolor where he was awarded distinguished titles and awards nationally, and broadened it to oils and mixed media on canvas and board. The darkness in his subjects is celebrated with mid tones and bright lights as he transfers his emotional feelings of his subjects to the viewer.
Laurel Buchanan was trained in southern California art schools and has developed her style of work from a career of graphics and design. It is important for her to portray her subjects with rich colors and bold strokes in an impressionistic style to present the feeling and emotion of her subjects rather than a realistic presentation.
